Lancaster University

Lancaster Intelligent, Robotic and Autonomous systems (LIRA) Research Centre was set up in early 2018 with the aim to bring together the diverse research excellence and expertise in the areas of Intelligent, Robotic and Autonomous Systems (IRAS). Its core is formed by 30 academics from a range of departments across different Faculties and can be seen here. LIRA is multi-disciplinary by design. It covers aspects as diverse as engineering, computing, psychology, management, etc.

Melanoscan LLC

Melanoscan is a biotechnology startup with a focus on AI/machine learning. Melanoscan aim to provide the best patient care by detecting melanoma and other skin cancers earlier than any other system with the use of whole-body digital imaging developed by one of the country’s leading academic scientists.


RedboxVR specialises in the manufacture and supply of Virtual Reality Kits specifically designed for the classroom. RedboxVR are Google Partners who provide industry leading VR and AR solutions worldwide. Their Google Expeditions kits enable teachers to bring students on virtual trips to places like museums, underwater, and outer space and are in use by students and teachers throughout Europe and beyond.
